Inspiration
I design to be in the state of inspiration. This requires the work to be challenging, innovative, and ultimately become jewelry I want to wear. Learning to be comfortable with the unknown and practice has made my process instinctual and intuitive. Each piece begins like a blank canvas. I make space for something new to happen.
Hand Formed
Hand forming is the freedom to craft anything in metal that can be sketched with a line. It is the structure of all my designs and has no shortcuts. We use only our hands, three pliers, a hammer, and a bench anvil to shape each piece one at a time. Hand forming captures movement and gives life to metal as no other method can.
Natural Gemstones
Art by Any Means has an extensive collection of natural, interesting gemstones sourced worldwide—each hand-selected by Vanessa for its exceptional beauty and rare qualities. We then carefully choose the finest one for every piece of jewelry we make.
Artisan Details
An extra gemstone, hammered accent, or meaningful stamp creates layers of intentional detail, because I believe a good design will feel complete on every level, not just the last one.
